Preface

I’ve recently decided to start a book blog. But instead of writing about every book I read, I have decided to only write about the vampire books I read.
I am not a patient reader. I usually power through a book in a night. So the idea of taking breaks from a book I am reading to reflect and write about my observations is torture to me. Not in the literal sense like Water-boarding, but something I’d rather not bear nonetheless. So why am I doing this?
I recently read the entire Twilight series from beginning to end and hated myself for it. I hated that I kept reading despite how much I didn’t like it. And I hated that I started to like it more the longer I was reading. Yes, I could blame this growing affection on the fact that I read the series in just over a few days with very little sleep in between. But the truth is far more insidious and something I feel the need to write about at length.
I plan on writing about my Twitard experience with brutal honesty. But I need to get some space from those characters for a while before delving into my shame. So I’ve decided to read other vampire books.
My current shortlist are the Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith, and the Southern Vampire series by Charlaine Harris. I’ll probably get around to a series of entries on Twilight at some point. And as other books are recommended to me I will write about my experiences with those fictitious vampires.
Why just vampires? Because I’m obsessed. And because a web log about all the general books I read would be boring.
