The Vampire Diaries is a YA vampire fiction series originally published in the early ’90s. The protagonist is a vapid perfect blond that I want to strangle. and her love interest is the typical angsty self-hating vampire that has glutted the vampire fiction market.
In 2009, the series was turned into a highly rated television program on the CW. And from what I can tell, the two have little in common. This is evidenced in the fact that I like TV Elena significantly more than book Elena.
Please follow along as I read the Vampire Diaries and complain about every little thing.
note: The chapters in these books are very short, in my opinion. And writing about my reactions to each chapter would be like saying “Elena sneezed and I reflexively said gesundheit.” And you don’t need an exact play by play of every chapter. So I’ve written updates every five chapters or so. It’s important to me to express my current impressions while they are still fresh and not after I’ve already changed my mind several times many chapters later.
